Service Canada online biometrics enrollment scheduling tool reopened

As of Monday, November 30, 2020, Service Canada appointment system for scheduling biometrics appointments online has re-opened and IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada) clients have been able to book their own biometrics appointments online.

IRCC clients who have not been contacted by an officer till November 30 will have to use the online scheduling tool to schedule appointments. Instructions are provided in the biometrics instruction letters sent out to clients.

Walk-in service has been discontinued and only clients with appointments will be able to use the biometrics service. It is advised that clients select the closest Service Canada office to them when making an appointment.

According to the new IRCC mandates, "permanent residence applicants who have not enrolled their biometrics within the past 10 years will require an appointment to fulfill the biometric requirement of their application."

Health and safety protocols are enforced in all Service Canada Centres. All clients need to follow applicable public health guidelines when visiting these centres.

However, if you’re outside of Canada you can visit one of the following locations:

  • visa application centres (VACs) worldwide
  • application support centers (ASCs) in the United States and its territories
  • designated Service Canada offices (SCOs)

Regardless, remember to make an appointment for your biometrics before referring to any centre inside or outside Canada.
