As the Canadian economy begins to recover from the pandemic, the government has extended the Post-Graduate Work Permits for an additional 18 months to students who’s current PGWP are set to expire between January 31 and December 31, 2022. This is exciting news, but many, such as those who’s PGWP have expired between November 27, 2021 and January 22, 2022, are feeling left out.
Luckily, there are a number of options available for those that may not qualify for the extended 18-month program, and the most effective route to continued employment and pathway towards Canadian Immigration is finding a position under the “skilled occupation” category. This category, which has recently been redefined in 2022, includes those jobs which are highly in demand in Canada, especially following the severe labour shortages that resulted from the lack of a prospective immigrant workforce between 2020 and 2021.
Currently, the demand for international skilled workers and skilled trades workers has produced many opportunities for international applicants both inside and outside Canada to continue their work in Canada under the many and constantly evolving Provincial Nominee Programs across Canada.
If you are struggling to find avenues to remain in Canada, Visa Time Immigration has been working closely with many Canadian employers that are eager to sponsor the Labour Market Impact Assessment process in order to provide a LMIA job offer that can be your pathway to words continued residency in Canada and application towards Canadian immigration in the long run.
